Cookie & Tracking Notice
Status: Effective July 22, 2026 (counsel-reviewed 2026-07-06, no notes; declared effective by founder decision 2026-07-22). See PACKET.md. Effective Date: July 22, 2026
1. Who We Are and What This Notice Covers
This Cookie & Tracking Notice (this "Notice") explains how Pattern Engine LLC, a Kansas limited liability company, doing business as Pidgeon Health ("Pidgeon Health," "we," "us," or "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites — pidgeon.health, its product subdomains, and checkout surfaces reached from them (the "Site").
This Notice covers browser-based tracking on the Site only. The desktop applications and CLI do not use cookies; their telemetry and analytics pipelines are separately governed by the Telemetry & VIN Consent Notice and described in the Privacy Policy.
2. What Cookies Are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Related technologies (local storage, pixels, and similar identifiers) work comparably; this Notice uses "cookies" for all of them. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by us) or "third-party" (set by a provider we use), and "session" (deleted when the browser closes) or "persistent" (retained until expiry or deletion).
3. The Cookies We Use
We use three categories. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell personal information collected through cookies.
| Category | Provider | Purpose | Examples of data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Cloudflare | CDN delivery, security, bot mitigation, and load balancing for the Site; these cookies are required for the Site to function and cannot be switched off in our tooling | Connection and security tokens; no profile of you is built |
| Analytics | PostHog | Product analytics for the Site: page views, navigation paths, referral sources, device type (anonymized), and country-level region — used to understand how visitors use the Site and improve it | Pseudonymous visitor identifier, pages viewed, referrer, coarse region; no message content, no advertising profiles |
| Payment | Stripe | Checkout, payment processing, and fraud prevention on checkout surfaces | Stripe-set cookies supporting the checkout session and Stripe's fraud detection |
4. Consent
- Strictly necessary cookies are set on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functioning Site; they do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies are set for visitors in the European Union, European Economic Area, and United Kingdom only after consent, given through the cookie banner presented on first visit. For other visitors, analytics cookies are set by default and can be declined or withdrawn as described in Section 5.
- Payment cookies are set when you use a checkout surface, as necessary to process the transaction you request; Stripe's own use of its cookies is governed by Stripe's policies (Section 6).
You can change or withdraw your consent choice at any time through the cookie preferences control on the Site.
5. How to Opt Out
- Cookie banner / preferences: use the banner on first visit, or the cookie preferences link in the Site footer, to decline or withdraw consent to analytics cookies.
- Browser controls: all major browsers let you block or delete cookies, and browse in a private mode that discards them. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may impair Site functionality (for example, security checks may fail).
- Global signals: where required by applicable law, we honor recognized opt-out preference signals (such as Global Privacy Control) for the Site's analytics cookies.
6. Third-Party Policies
The third-party providers named above process cookie data under their own notices:
- Cloudflare: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
- PostHog: https://posthog.com/privacy
- Stripe: https://stripe.com/privacy
How we handle personal data collected through the Site, and your rights over it, are described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Changes
We may update this Notice from time to time — for example, if the cookies we use change. The current version is always posted on the Site with its revision date, and material changes to the analytics category will re-trigger the consent banner for visitors whose consent is required.
